5 hours later...off the chain good! Tomorrow morning rain socked in, no turkey hunting, so I am going to hickory smoke 6 lbs of teriayki turkey jerky. Then bow practice in the basement man cave. As Swamp would say wah!:D

Where did you get those racks from? They are perfect for the grill.

Thanks OsBH, hahaha...I bought the racks at Gander Mt, the last three they had on close out for 9.99 ea. normally 19.99 which I would not have paid.
I am really enjoying this smoker, it could not get any easier. I am sure there are nicer more expensive units out there, for now my wants and needs are met. Pellet smokers take the work of having to feed a fire all day long. Just set it and return in 5-6 hours. The jerky gun I also picked up at Gander on sale for 38.00 reg 49.00. It worked perfect.
I am going to use apple wood pellets on my next batch of jerky...

Thank you, it's been fun and some work but easier than I anticipated. Here the hickory smoked teriyaki turkey jerky after 5 hours of smoking.

Let us know how your smoker works out.
I just bought a new gas grill and was wondering what I'm going to do with the old one. Think I'll hang on to it till yours is done. :D

Roger that. I'm going to cut the bottom of the grill out and use it and the bottom cabinet area to make the chamber.
Thinking to just copy the propane box smoker set up with the burner in the bottom with a wood chip/pellet tray. Still working out how to control the airflow and temp.
